Uttar Pradesh Police have arrested a Muslim Cleric and two others for not allowing national anthem to be sung in a madrasa in Maharajganj on Independence Day. In a video, making rounds on social media the cleric, Mohammad Junaid Ansari and two unidentified persons stopped students of the Arabia Ahle Sunnat Anware Taiba Girls’ College from singing the national anthem after hoisting the national flag on August 15th.
“Hamare yahan rashtragan nahi hoga…najayaz hai,” Ansari is heard saying in the video.

Police who booked the trio for sedition said Ansari was an outsider and had no role in the college.
The national flag was hoisted by principal Fazlur Rahman, after which the students were about to sing the national anthem when Ansari came up and stopped children saying it was not allowed in Islam.
