As we noted last week, imprisoned steroids dealer, Richard Rodriguez, recently conducted an interview with filmmaker Johnny Bravo, and during the interview, Rodriguez alleged former WWE Intercontinental Champion Roman Reigns, along with celebrities Mark Wahlberg and Josh Duhamel were clients of his and used alias’ to purchase illegal drugs.
Reigns released a statement following the allegations denying any wrongdoing or connection with Rodriguez, and we noted that The Big Dog will not be the subject of a DEA probe following the allegations made by Rodriguez.
There has been speculation that Reigns losing the WWE Intercontinental Title on Raw last night might have been WWE’s way of “punishing” Reigns for the steroid accusations, but Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that is entirely untrue, and there is no heat on Reigns stemming from the allegations. WWE is perceiving the entire issue as a non-story at this point, and Reigns is still set to challenge Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title at WrestleMania 34.
“As of today, it’s still Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns”, said Meltzer. “The feeling internally is that the Roman [steroid allegation]story from last week is a non-story. So he is not being punished.”
With regards to The Miz, who recaptured the WWE IC Title last night on Raw 25, he is set for a major push following the title win, and he is scheduled for a big WrestleMania 34 match.
