L’acteur devrait prochainement réaliser “Fences”, son troisième long métrage après “Antwone Fisher” et “The Great Debaters”.

Lors d’un entretien avec Empire, Denzel Washington a expliqué vouloir repasser bientôt derrière la caméra pour diriger Fences, l’adaptation d’une pièce d’August Wilson. Le film suivra ainsi Troy (Washington himself, a priori), un éboueur quinquagénaire de Pittsburgh, ex-taulard, dont les rêves de carrière sportive dans le baseball se sont heurtés à la barrière raciale encore en vigueur à l’époque au sein de la ligue majeure. L’acteur-réalisateur avait interpété le rôle sur les planches en 2010, décrochant au passage un Tony Award.

Je vis ma vie au jour le jour. Je suis très heureuse d’être là où je suis aujourd’hui. J’ai vécu des expériences formidables et je suis très reconnaissante. » Définitivement, la discrète brune a tourné la page, prête à entamer un nouveau chapitre de sa vie.

Adieu New York, et re-bonjour Los Angeles. Le site américain TMZ rapporte que la maman de 35 ans a décidé de retourner en Californie en achetant une immense demeure d’une valeur estimée à 2,8 millions d’euros dans le quartier de Calabasas (rendu célèbre pour avoir accueilli la famille Kardashian au lancement de son émission de téléréalité). Une résidence de 6000 mètres carrés sur la côte Ouest qui n’a rien à voir avec l’appartement de trois chambres à Manhattan qu’elle occupait jusqu’ici.

Nouvelle maison mais aussi nouveau tournant pour sa carrière qu’elle veut définitivement reprendre en main, et tant pis si elle doit faire face à ses vieux démons.Katy Perry est actuellement en pleine promotion pour The Giver du génial réalisateur Phillip Noyce et donne la réplique à la grande Meryl Streep. Elle apparaîtra également dans Mania Days, de Paul Dalio au dernier trimestre de l’année. Dans la Cité des Anges mais sans Tom Cruise, Katie est determinée à y arriver.

À l’affiche du film Les Recettes du bonheur, Charlotte Le Bon connait les débuts de son aventure hollywoodienne. Le film est en effet produit par Steven Spielberg : l’ancienne miss météo devenue actrice ne tarit pas d’éloges sur le cinéaste, pour lequel elle est ravie d’avoir travaillé.

Steven Spielberg serait-il fan de l’humour Canal ? Alors qu’il est actuellement en tournage avec Omar Sy pour Jurassic World, qu’il produit, le cinéaste a aussi craqué sur Charlotte Le Bon, ex-Miss météo de la chaîne, qu’il a intégrée au casting du film Les Recettes du bonheur, en salles aujourd’hui. Contre toute attente, ce ne sont pas les blagues de la Canadienne qui l’ont convaincu : « Il cherchait une actrice francophone avec une grosse énergie, explique Charlotte Le Bon dans Femme Actuelle. Il m’a dit qu’il m’avait trouvée complètement folle, que je faisais beaucoup d’efforts pour réaliser des gags pas vraiment drôles, mais que j’étais touchante. Steven est quelqu’un de super sympathique et de très accessible. »

Steven Spielberg, qui ne cesse de multiplier les projets, n’a même pas eu le temps de rencontrer Charlotte Le Bon en chair et en os : « Figurez-vous que je ne l’ai jamais réellement rencontré, dévoile l’actrice. En fait, il m’a annoncé que j’avais décroché un rôle dans Les Recettes du bonheur par téléphone, lors d’un rendez-vous sur Skype. C’est la première fois que cela m’arrive ! Qui sait, j’ai peut-être parlé à un hologramme. Je rêve de le voir un jour pour de vrai et même de pouvoir le toucher. »

Si Charlotte Le Bon se permet désormais de rêver si grand, c’est qu’elle commence à réaliser qu’elle a sa place dans le monde du cinéma. Si elle admet qu’auparavant elle ne « se sentait pas légitime comme actrice », cette aventure hollywoodienne a fini de la rassurer : ce métier est fait pour elle.

Depuis hier, Alessandra Sublet connaît une rentrée chargée. Deux nouvelles émissions au programme pour l’animatrice : Petit dimanche entre amis sur Europe 1, et Un soir à la tour Eiffel qui débutera mercredi sur France 2. Sans oublier, bien sûr, le petit Alphonse né à la mi-août.

Thierry Ardisson peut aller se rhabiller : l’homme en noir qui passe son temps à attaquer Alessandra Sublet ne fait pas le poids face à la réussite qu’elle affiche, aussi bien à la télévision qu’à la radio. Un succès qui naît de l’envie de satisfaire son public – qui le lui rend bien. « J’ai toujours un peu le trac, expliquait-elle à Metronews après la première de son émission Petit dimanche entre amis, hier. Je n’ai pas envie de décevoir ni les auditeurs, ni mes patrons. Mais une fois l’émission lancée, j’étais dedans avec ma spontanéité et mes erreurs. Mais je ne me prends pas la tête car les gens m’acceptent telle que je suis. Je ne changerai pas mon fonds de commerce ! »

Un état d’esprit qu’Alessandra Sublet emporte avec elle sur France 2, où elle animera dès mercredi Un soir à la tour Eiffel, une émission enregistrée au sein même du symbole de la capitale française. Désormais habituée aux critiques, la présentatrice assure qu’elle saura y faire face. « Seule fille à avoir son émission en seconde partie de soirée, je m’attends à des tirs de bazooka, précisait-elle à TVMag. Et alors ? Si cela répond à 100% de mes envies, pourquoi m’en priver ? Ça n’empêchera pas les critiques de certains, mais je m’y suis préparée. »

Avec la naissance de son deuxième enfant Alphonse en août dernier, Alessandra Sublet semble donc avoir gagné en sagesse. De quoi affronter avec sérénité cette rentrée bien chargée.

En pleine promo de John Wick, en salle le 29 octobre, Keanu Reeves a confié au site américain Moviefone ses rêves déçus.

Il vient d’avoir 50 ans, et quand on pense à lui, c’est toute une série de blockbusters qui nous viennent à l’esprit. Découvert du grand public en 1991 avec Point Break, Keanu Reeves a assis sa notoriété trois ans plus tard dans le palpitant Speed. Mais c’est la trilogie Matrix, en 1999 qui lui offre la consécration.

Pourtant, le comédien a joué dans une quinzaine de films avant d’être reconnu, notamment dans un film pour adolescents resté Outre-Atlantique, Bill and Ted, qui 25 ans après son premier volet turlupine encore l’acteur. Une suite serait en projet, sans que pour l’heure elle ait encore trouvé les moyens nécessaires à sa réalisation.

Malgré une carrière plus qu’honorable donc, Keanu Reeves considère que ce n’est pas suffisant. Le comédien aurait aimé en effet, incarner à l’écran Batman, ou encore X-Men. “J’ai toujours rêvé de jouer Wolverine, mais ça ne s’est jamais fait. (…) J’ai toujours aussi voulu jouer Batman, notamment dans la saga The Dark Knight, mais là encore, ça ne s’est pas fait.”

Des ambitions déçues, qui ne laissent pas l’acteur amer, au contraire, puisque non content de reconnaître le talent de ceux qui ont vécu son rêve (Hugh Jackman, Ben Affleck et Christian Bale), Keanu Reeves a la sagesse simple de ceux qui apprécient sans jalouser: “Maintenant, j’en profite juste en tant que spectateur.”

C’est au magazine américain People que l’on doit l’heureuse nouvelle: Hayden Panettiere a accouché le 9 décembre de son premier bébé.

A 25 ans, Hayden Panettiere est devenue maman pour la première ce mardi. La comédienne plus connue en France pour son rôle dans la série Heroes et dans Nashville que pour la vingtaine de films dans lesquels elle est apparue, a mis au monde une petite fille en pleine forme.

Le bébé, qui pèse 3,6 kgs et mesure 50,8 cm a été baptisé Kaya Edvokia. Un nom à consonances ukrainiennes, sans doute choisi en raison des origines de son papa, le champion du monde de boxe, Wladimir Klitschko, qui n’est autre que le frère du nouveau maire de Kiev. Le couple – en octobre 2013 ils ont annoncé leurs fiancailles -, s’est dit très heureux: “On est sur un petit nuage, et follement amoureux”.

En couple depuis décembre 2009, Hayden Panettière et Wladimir Klitschko, 38 ans ont vécu une relation on-off. Après avoir rompu entre 2011 et 2013, les voici désormais heureux parents d’une baby girl. Lorsqu’ils ont appris que le bébé serait une fille, ils n’ont pas manqué d’enthousiasme. Hayden s’était même lâchée sur ses envies de maman en août dernier lors des Emmy Awards “J’ai envie de faire du shopping, de repeindre sa chambre.” Plus récemment, au magazine Hello, elle avait ajouté être très heureuse d’attendre une petite fille: “Je sens que je sais comment faire pour élever une femme forte. Je me sens à la hauteur et je sens que ma fille le sera aussi.”

La rose est éclose, l’avenir de la petite Kaya est entre les mains de ses parents.

On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher argued that the impeachment debate has changed and supporting impeachment is “becoming the politically smart thing.”

Maher said, “I think the debate on impeachment is finally different. I feel different about it. I think a lot of people do. The combination of Mueller, as not great as he was, but plus Amash, Justin Amash, I feel like we’ve always been debating, well, is it the politically right thing or is it the moral thing? I feel like this is where slavery was now in 1858, it’s getting harder and harder not to be on the side of the morally right thing.”

He added, “I feel what’s different now is that it’s becoming the politically smart thing.”

Hollywood filmmaker and left-wing activist Rob Reiner melted down on Saturday, fearing that “ineffectual” Democrats in Congress won’t ever pull the trigger on impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump.

“We’re up to 78 House members calling for an Impeachment inquiry. At this rate the most lawless President in US history may never be held accountable for his crimes,” Reiner wrote on Twitter. “I gave up on the GOP cult long ago. Hate to say it but I’m starting to feel that way about the ineffectual Dems.”

Reiner, one of Tinseltown’s most outspoken Trump critics, has repeatedly called for the president’s removal, citing special counsel Robert Mueller’s report on now-debunked Russia collusion and alleged illicit business activities years before entering politics. Reiner’s latest tirade follows the release of a star-studded NowThis video, directed by the All in the Family star, in which Robert De Niro, Martin Sheen, and Sophia Bush call on Americans to read the Mueller report and for President Trump and administration officials to testify before Congress on the special counsel’s findings.

Earlier this year, NowThis released a Reiner-directed video featuring De Niro and over 1,000 former federal prosecutors alleging the Mueller report lays out “clear evidence” that the president “committed felony obstruction of justice.”

“We all strongly believe that there is more than enough evidence to indict President Trump for multiple felony counts of obstruction of justice,” Jennifer Rodgers, a former assistant U.S. Attorney, says in the roughly two and a half minute clip.

“The evidence shows that President Trump tried to stop, limit, and interfere with the Mueller investigation and other federal investigations surrounding him,” then adds ex-U.S. Attorney and current CNN legal analyst Elie Honig.

Attorney General William Barr in April released a largely unredacted version of the Mueller’s report which cleared President Trump’s 2016 campaign of collusion with the Russian government. Barr and then-Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, citing the report’s findings, determined that the president did not commit obstruction of justice.

Despite growing support to launch an impeachment inquiry, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has, thus far, balked at the idea.

Reiner has previously called the president the “enemy of the people” and a “sick delusional criminal fuck.” In April, he endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential run, predicting the frontrunner will “restore our souls and standing as leader of the free world.”

Brussels advances fight against Poland over Supreme Court law

European Commission says Warsaw has failed to sufficiently respond to EU’s complaints.

The European Commission on Tuesday moved a step closer to asking the European Court of Justice to penalize Poland over a law that could force the early retirement of Supreme Court judges.

The Commission has been battling Poland over rule-of-law concerns on several fronts for more than two years, with Warsaw refusing to reverse a series of legislative changes that the Commission says have undermined the independence and integrity of the country’s judicial system.

In its latest step, the Commission on Tuesday said Poland has failed to make a sufficient response to the EU’s complaints about the controversial new law on the Supreme Court, which took effect on July 3. The Commission announced that it had sent a “reasoned opinion” to Warsaw laying out how its concerns could be resolved. The next step, presuming Poland again refuses to back down, would be referring the case to the Court of Justice.

“Over a period of two years, the Polish authorities have adopted more than 13 laws affecting the entire structure of the justice system in Poland, impacting the Constitutional Tribunal, Supreme Court, ordinary courts, National Council for the Judiciary, prosecution service and National School of Judiciary,” the Commission wrote in background material explaining Tuesday’s decision. “The common pattern is that the executive and legislative branches have been systematically enabled to politically interfere in the composition, powers, administration and functioning of the judicial branch.”

Last December, the Commission for the first time initiated so-called Article 7 proceedings against Poland, beginning a process that theoretically could lead to Poland losing its voting rights in the European Council. In reality, the procedure has virtually no chance of success because Poland’s allies, particularly Hungary, have pledged to block it.

Still, the Commission has refused to back down in the rule-of-law fight, insisting that Warsaw must take steps to restore the independence of its judiciary.

The new law on the Supreme Court lowers the retirement age of judges to 65 from 70, and puts 27 out of 72 sitting judges at risk of forced retirement. The measure also applies to the first president of the Supreme Court, who should have a six-year mandate under the Polish constitution, but could be terminated early. The law allows judges to request to stay in their positions, but the Commission said that gives too much power to the Polish president as there is “no criteria established” for deciding on such requests.

“The response of the Polish authorities does not alleviate the Commission’s legal concerns,” the Commission said in a statement on Tuesday, adding, “The European Commission maintains its position that the Polish law on the Supreme Court is incompatible with EU law as it undermines the principle of judicial independence, including the irremovability of judges” in violation of the EU treaties.

An initial hearing on the related Article 7 proceeding was held by the EU’s General Affairs Council in June, and further hearings are expected in the fall. After the hearing, EU officials said they were unimpressed by Poland’s defense.

The Polish government, controlled by the Law and Justice party, has insisted that the changes to the court system were within its sovereign rights and that the EU is overstepping its bounds.

Dr. Alveda King, director of Priests for Life’s Civil Rights for the Unborn project and niece of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., called out the “very racist” abortion comments made by model Emily Ratajkowski.

King offered her remarks in a Friday interview on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Tonight with Breitbart Senior Editor-at-Large Rebecca Mansour.

Mansour invited King’s response to model Emily Ratajkowski’s claim that the Alabama abortion law is aimed at reducing the number of abortions among black women in order to “perpetuate the industrial prison complex.”

Ratajkowski wrote on Instagram and Twitter:

King replied, “Wasn’t that very, very racist? We see at the heart of all of this, we have an office here in America in our government right now of Population Affairs, and it is designed to deal with the sterilization and the birth control and the control of ‘undesirables’ — members of a certain population. Now that office is still in existence today in America.”

“You don’t have to kill people in order to heal a nation,” King added, “That is very racist.”

King also addressed comments made by actress Minka Kelly.

In an instagram post, Kelly described an abortion she had as a service to her unborn “theoretical child”:

King, who has spoken candidly about overcoming the trauma of her own past abortions, rejected Kelly’s characterization of abortion as a merciful act.

“If death is a solution to a life of struggle, then why didn’t Ms. Kelly and her boyfriend kill themselves?” she asked. “Not that I’m saying anybody should commit suicide, but I mean, why didn’t you carry it all the way?”

King added, “None of us is going to be able to deal with a life of struggle. … So no, it had nothing to do with them being concerned about that baby living a life of struggle.”

King remarked, “It’s a shame that 25 white men had to pass a law proving that they care about the preservation of black life, because those who cry ‘racism’ in America won’t fight for life in the womb. So where’s the real racism? Where is that racism that we’re talking about? It’s very racist to target a whole group of people and to sell abortion as the answer to your success. That’s racist. That’s what Planned Parenthood did and does.”

King touched on the Hollywood left’s opposition to the the Georgia and Alabama laws.

“Many people in Hollywood are not shouting out the abortions they’re glad they had. For the ones who are, I would even dare to suggest that they have suppressed that pain so deeply that they don’t know it’s there.”

Mansour said, “Many in Planned Parenthood will say, ‘[It’s] because of the pro-life movement that people feel grief. If the pro-lifers weren’t there, they wouldn’t feel any grief.’”

“That’s not true. They hide it,” King replied, explaining that she spent years avoiding thoughts of her own abortions. “When I did [think about them], unfortunately I would go have a drink of bourbon. I don’t drink anything like that now, except maybe the holidays, a nice kosher glass of wine or something like that. But before ’83, I couldn’t sleep without the alcohol.”
