Nasser Al-Khelaïfi: “We’ve received huge offers to buy the club.”

In Monday’s interview with The Athletic, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi spoke about the future of the Champions League, suggesting an opening ceremony, but also discussed the value he feels has been added to Paris Saint-Germain since the Qatari investment, rejecting the criticism that the purchase of the club was an instance of sportswashing.

“For us, coming to PSG was like buying a little business that was losing money, so you needed to inject and invest money. We bought PSG for €70 million. Now it’s worth many times that and we’ve received huge offers to buy the club. So, from where we’ve come from, it shows that it’s an investment project. We’ve added value to European football in spending money at PSG.”

Caen hoping to sign Angers Romain Thomas

As reported by Le10Sport, Angers’ long-serving defender Romain Thomas is interesting Ligue 2 side Caen ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 33-year-old centre-back, who joined the club in 2013, is nearing the end of his Angers contract this July and no decision has yet been made on if he, and other long-serving defenders such as Vincent Manceau and captain Ismaël Traoré, will be kept at the club for next season.

Sensing an opportunity, Caen, led by former Angers coach Stéphane Moulin, are hoping to convince Thomas to drop down a division this summer despite having struggled to compete for a playoff spot in the second tier this term.
