Luis Campos: “I get contacted, but each time I answer that I am concentrating on Lille.”

Speaking to Portuguese paper Record, Lille’s de facto Sporting Director Luis Campos responded to supposed recent approaches for his services from Premier League clubs.

“I feel very good in the Lille project, it is good for me and for the supporters. There are contacts and I do get enquiries, but each time I respond with the fact that I am concentrating on the progression of Lille. I am completely in love with signing players for between €0m to €3m or €3m to €6m. Players who, with the team that I have, will be worth much more in the future.”

“We had ball possession in the 1st half but we did not have enough intensity. We lost a lot of balls. They tried to counter on the mistakes we made and that hurt us. We managed the 1st half well but we conceded twice on small details, with an attacker who has a feel for the goal. We managed to score a goal which is important for the 2nd leg.”

Neymar: “I felt good but the club was scared. Now I suffer as a result.”

Speaking to RMC Sport following Tuesday night’s 2-1 1st leg defeat to Borussia Dortmund, Brazilian attacker Neymar sharpened his knives and took aim at PSG for not allowing him to play in the matches that preceded this UCL encounter on the grounds of protecting his fitness, when he had felt well enough to play.

“It is difficult to spend four matches without playing, but, unfortunately, it was not my choice. It was a choice made by the club, the doctors. They took this decision and I did not like it. We had lots of discussions about this because I wanted to play. I felt good but the club was scared. In the end, I am the one who suffers. I understand the fear that the club was suffering from, because in the last two years I was not able to play in the Round of 16. I respect the decision, but it cannot be like this, because the player ends up suffering. It was very difficult to play a match like this, intense, 90 minutes without stopping. It is different. Had I been in better shape, I would certainly have played better.”

Kylian Mbappé trained normally this morning following COVID-19 tests yesterday

PSG attacker Kylian Mbappé trained as normal this morning ahead of this evening’s Champions’ League clash with Borussia Dortmund, according to RMC – the French international had missed sessions on the previous two days owing to a throat infection and fever.

The 21-year-old was tested as a precaution for COVID-19 yesterday, with TF1 reporting that the results came back negative, reaffirming that the PSG medical staff’s initial diagnosis of a considerable throat infection was accurate.

Mbappé’s presence at this morning’s session by no means guarantees that he will be in the starting XI vs Dortmund tonight, but strongly encourages the notion that he will play some role in this evening’s critical.

Cameroonian midfielder Steve Mvoue confirms summer move to Toulouse

Speaking to LesViolets.com, 18-year-old Cameroonian central midfielder Steve Mvoue confirmed that he is joining bottom of Ligue 1 side Toulouse FC this summer.

“I have chosen TFC, because it is a club that knows where I have come from.”

Mvoue has spent multiple stints with Les Violets on a trial basis over the last two years, with his brother Stéphane Zobo also currently at the club, who is a 19-year-old attacker currently playing for TFC’s reserve team in the French 5th division.

“I had trials with PSG, Lens, Monaco and Toulouse. Other clubs were interested in me joining you. It is my agent who dealt with all that. I chose Toulouse, because it is a bit the club that knows where I have come from. My first trial here occurred back in 2017. I came back in 2018 and 2019 where I did pre-season. Since, I have come to train here from time to time. It is a club where I feel good, where I know people. These elements motivated me to sign here.”

He also confirmed that Paul Pogba is his idol:

“My model is Paul Pogba. I am technical, I have good vision and read the game well, a strong shot and athletic capacities. My weak points? I still need to improve a lot tactically and in my concentration. The coaches who have already rubbed shoulders with me in Toulouse have been making me work on that.”
