UFC announced Monday that Gilbert Melendez tested positive for testosterone in his 6/13 loss to Eddie Alvarez. Because this offense took place before 7/1 when their new policies goes into effect, Melendez has been suspended for one year.

Melendez was supposed to fight Al Iaquinta on 7/15 in San Diego, CA, and the company is now looking for a new opponent for Iaquinta.

“I did not inject anything, but I am responsible and accept the consequences for the results,” said Melendez in a statement by UFC. “I will make sure I am better educated about the products I use and their implications. Going forward, I will ensure no products I use will contain banned substances. I am sincerely apologetic to everyone who supports me, including my fans, sponsors and the UFC.”

Want to mention all the nice people I was able to meet the last two nights at the PWG show in Reseda. As mentioned in the report, last night’s show was one of the best live events I’ve ever seen. It’s just amazing the talent level at both shows, from all around the world.
The Discovery Network station Discovery en Espanol and well as the Discovery Network station in Romania and Eurosport in Finland are all listed as dropping Impact.
Zahra Schreiber, the girlfriend of Seth Rollins and a WWE developmental talent was covered as showing an Instagram photo from 2012 which showed a medal with the swastika on it in the background. She defended it saying the swastika meant prosperity and meant that long before Hitler. She worked last night’s house show in Fort Pierce as the manager with Solomon Crowe.
Stevie Richards made a surprise appearance at last night’s ROH show in Atlanta and did a pull-apart angle with Jay Lethal. Taelor Hendrix was in the corner of Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian & Lethal.
Cliff Compton was scheduled to wrestle Mark Briscoe but couldn’t appear as he was hospitalized with a seizure. He was in the building and rushed via ambulance to the hospital. He was released from the hospital late last night.
Kevin Iole reported that UFC was trying to book Joanna Jedrzejczyk against Valerie Letourneau as the No. 2 fight for the 11/15 show in Melbourne, Australia at Etihad Stadium. However that isn’t likely since Letourneau was injured in her win last week over Maryna Morosz in Saskatoon. Claudia Galdelha, who is also injured, wasn’t happy to hear that there could be a title fight before her, Gadelha said she’d be ready to fight in December or January. It makes sense to put Jedrezjczyk on the same show as Ronda Rousey, who now headlines that show.
In a post on Friday night, it was written that the stadium holds 90,000. It will actually be set up for 70,000. It’s never held that many in the past.
A fan tried to jump Dean Ambrose on Tuesday night at the Smackdown tapings in Providence. There was footage on the www.tmz.com . site showing a guy who had gotten over the barricade and was running toward Ambrose from behind but security, right before he got to Ambrose, tackled him. The report stated that the fan was holding a sharp object.
Bellator announced Phil Davis vs. Emanuel Newton and Linton Vassel vs. King Mo Lawal will be the first round pairings at the lightheayvweight tournament on 9/19 in San Jose. Both will be two round fights, and the winners come back for three-round fights later in the show.
A first-ever Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. Low Ki match is scheduled for Jersey All Pro Wrestling on 11/14 in Rahway, NJ. At one time these two were scheduled to feud in WWE in a major program, but plans changed long before it ever came close to happening . Also announced for that show are The Hardys, Konnan & Homicide & Hernandez at LAX,. MVP, Jack Evans and Candice LaRae.
I believe there is a pre-sale for the Royal Rumble on 1/24 in Orlando at Amway Arena with the code rumble16. The pre-sale definitely started at about 10:15 p.m. last night. Tickets go on sale to the public on 11/20.
Rich Brennan was announced as the new full-time lead announcer on Smackdown.
The WWE Network’s airing of SummerSlam that is up right now has edited out The New Day’s song parody of “Empire State of Mind.” They also edited out Brock Lesnar flipping off Undertaker right before the finish of that match. That’s weird because there are tons of episodes of Steve Austin flipping people up in the archives (thanks to Leon Peters).
Hulk Hogan talked about wanting to run for Vice President on the ticket with Donald Trump. Note that as another thing that isn’t about to happen.
In Google searches for yesterday, Shane Moseley was No. 12 with 50,000 and Leo Santa Cruz was No. 14 also with 50,000.
UIPW has a show today in East Los Angeles at the UIPW Auditorium featuring a three-way for their title with Volador Jr.. defending against Mephisto and Johnny Mundo. That’s an interesting political match since Volador and Mephisto are headliners for CMLL and Mundo headlines for AAA and Lucha Underground.

A former party rebel was elected as the leader of Germany’s Social Democrats on Sunday, presenting a further challenge to Angela Merkel over Europe.

Andrea Nahles, 47, a career politician, became the SPD’s first female head in its 155-year history.

She is tasked with spearheading a rejuvenation of the SPD’s working-class support base after the party suffered embarrassing low results in last September’s election.

But she has also been critical of the the German chancellor’s position on eurozone reform, accusing Mrs Merkel of breaking the terms of the coalition deal.

Mrs Nahles’s victory comes at a tricky time for Mrs Merkel, who formed a grand coalition government between her Christian Democratic Union party and the SPD after a drawn-out political process earlier this year.

Ms Nahles beat Simone Lange, 41, mayor of Flensburg on the Danish border, by 66 percent of the vote, significantly less than was expected.

“We will succeed,” Ms Nahles told delegates, referring to rebuilding her party, at an SPD congress, where the vote took place, in the western city of Wiesbaden. “That is my promise.”

Her sharp tongue could make her a tricky ally for Mrs Merkel and the conservatives.

She once promised the conservative government “a smack in the mouth” and another time taunted Mrs Merkel’s CDU with a pitchy rendition of the Pippi Longstocking theme song in parliament.

Ms Nahles had spoken out against the chancellor’s reticence towards Eurozone reform on Tuesday, telling a German newspaper she had “no understanding” for the “red lines… drawn by our coalition partner.”

“That is either not thought through to the end or a challenge,” she said. “‘A New Departure for Europe’ is the title of our (coalition) agreement, no one can chicken out of it now."

Mrs Merkel has been battling conservative factions in her own party over the official line on European integration.

If this is Mrs Merkel’s final term in office, as expected, the new SPD leader could be poised to make a bid to run Germany.

Ms Nahles wrote in her high school yearbook that one day she wanted to be “either a housewife or chancellor”.

The SPD head will also take up the added duty of parliamentary leader, an important position allowing her to respond immediately to statements by the chancellor during debates.

Ms Nahles first joined the centre-left party at age 18, and most notably turned heads for her fiery opposition of ex-Chancellor Gerhard Schröder’s labour reforms.

While she formerly served as labour minister under Mrs Merkel, she decided against pursuing a cabinet role this time, allegedly to make room to jostle the chancellor from the sidelines.

China has renewed its threat of using military force against Taiwan to prevent it declaring full independence, after Beijing conducted live fire drills and flew fighter planes close to the island this week.

Chinese defence ministry spokesperson Wu Qian said that Beijing would not shy away from unifying the mainland and the island of Taiwan “through force”.

The threat, which came as China’s first domestically made aircraft carrier was being prepared for its maiden voyage, was the latest escalation of tensions between China and self-governing Taiwan.

Beijing considers Taiwan a renegade province it will eventually reincorporate into China, having separated from it in 1949 during the Chinese civil war.

“We will try our best for the prospect of peaceful reunification, but I have to point out that to engage in ‘Taiwan independence’ is a dead end, and there is no way to win an armed confrontation,” Mr Wu said.

"If the secession efforts grow indefinitely, the PLA [China’s People’s Liberation Army] has no choice but to unify Taiwan through force.”

Beijing has been showcasing its military muscle over the past year near democratic Taiwan, which has its own military and President, Tsai Ing-wen.

Earlier this month Chinese helicopters conducted live fire drills off China’s southeast coast, and Taiwan said that two Chinese bombers circled the island.

Yesterday more Chinese bombers circled Taiwan, according to Chinese state media, and on Tuesday Taiwan announced that in June its forces will conduct live fire drills simulating an invasion from China.

President Tsai took office in 2016, and the Chinese government suspects she will attempt to formally declare Taiwanese independence, a red line for Beijing.

One particularly strong show of Chinese military force earlier this month in the South China Sea saw China’s President Xi Jinping donning army fatigues to preside over drills involving 48 ships and 76 aircraft vehicles.

Beijing was also angered by Donald Trump, the US president, signing a deal with Taiwan in March that would allow US ships to enter Taiwanese waters.

On Tuesday the US Air Force flew bombers in the vicinity of the South China Sea, saying the move was to “maintain the readiness of US forces” there. Chinese government-controlled newspaper Global Times said: “The US cannot prevent the mainland exerting military pressure on Taiwan.”

Mr Wu added: "The Taiwan separatists are becoming more arrogant recently. The Chinese mainland has exercised the utmost sincerity and restraint, but its patience is not limitless."

A weather reconnaissance plane used by the US military has crashed on a highway in Georgia, killing five people but avoiding cars on the road in what officials described as a "miracle".

Four of the crew of nine on board the WC-130 are still missing, officials said. It belonged to the 156th Airlift Wing.

“As far we know there were no cars hit in this crash," said Gena Bilbo, from Effingham county sheriff’s office.

"It is an absolute miracle at that time or day and that intersection."

Where are they going in 2014-15? Minnesota Recruits 2014-15

Dylan Boettcher of St. Clair plans to wrestle for Southwest Minnesota State next season after signing his letter of intent last week. Dylan qualified for the state tournament two times, both at 138 lbs. He did not place as a junior, but claimed 4th place honors as a senior.

Boettcher is projected to wrestler 141 or 149 pounds for the Mustangs.

WWE’s Greatest Royal Rumble Event is less than a week away as it will be taking place on Friday, April 27th in Saudi Arabia and it will air on the WWE Network beginning at 11AM ET with a one-hour Kickoff Show. The main card for WWE’s Greatest Royal Rumble Event will be starting at 12PM ET and it is scheduled to run for five hours. In total, the whole show will be running for six hours which means that this show is one hour shorter than WrestleMania 34’s main card and Kickoff Show.
The event will feature a 50-Man Royal Rumble Match, Undertaker facing Rusev in a Casket Match, John Cena taking on Triple H and seven titles being defended.

The Greatest Royal Rumble was a mixed bag for many fans. It felt like a giant house show and it was an underwhelming show but there was one highlight that has many fans talking.
Titus O’Neil was entrant number 39 in the Greatest Royal Rumble match. He seemed excited to get into the ring but unfortunately for him, no one will remember anything he did in the match because the big takeaway from his appearance was that he tripped as he got to ringside. O’Neil tripped and somehow ended up underneath the ring.
Announcers Michael Cole, Corey Graves, and Byron Saxton could not stop laughing and the people in the back apparently couldn’t get enough of the trip because they played it over and over for the fans at home.
