– RAW announcer Corey Graves apparently received VIP treatment at Friday’s Bellator 163 event in Uncasville, CT. He tweeted the following:

Billy Corgan Reaches Settlement with Anthem & Impact Ventures

Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan announced on Twitter today that he has signed a settlement with Anthem Sports & Entertainment for the money he loaned to TNA and Dixie Carter. After a back & forth on Twitter last week, Anthem announced that they would be repaying TNA’s loan to Corgan.

No word yet on how much the settlement was for but between $1.8 and $2.7 million was allegedly owed.

Corgan tweeted the following today:

Just signed my settlement with TNA/ANTHEM. And to fill in the blanks I’ll do a few interviews next week to spell out what is/isn’t in it

Roode Talks WWE NXT Takeover (Video), Joe Shirt, Fans on Matches

– This Fallout video from WWE NXT “Takeover: Toronto” features Bobby Roode after his win over Tye Dillinger. Roode says from the moment he walked out with his choir, he felt glorious. Roode says the man who’s going to take NXT to the next level did his job tonight. Roode says Dillinger is nothing more than a perfect loser and tonight was just another step in Roode taking NXT to that next level. Roode says he made “Takeover: Toronto” glorious.

– WWE has a new poll asking fans the most memorable title match at Takeover – Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa defeating The Revival for the NXT Tag Team Titles, Asuka retaining the NXT Women’s Title over Mickie James or Samoa Joe defeating Shinsuke Nakamura for the NXT Title. As of this writing, 44% went with Joe’s big win while 39% voted for DIY.

Backstage News On Why WWE Signed Goldberg Long Term

Goldberg is officially back on the WWE roster after defeating Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series, but that wasn’t always WWE’s plan for the former undefeated WCW World Champion.
According to a new report by Dave Meltzer the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE’s original plan to have Goldberg lose in a one-off match against Lesnar was changed due to the recent decline in WWE’s TV viewership. The company decided that bringing Goldberg back for more than just that one match would be good for their viewership in 2017.
It sounds like now that Goldberg is back, that also means the plans original for Lesnar vs. Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 33 have been scrapped. Some in company management wanted to stay on course for Lesnar vs. Shane, but Vince McMahon ultimately made the call to start building to a Lesnar-Goldberg rematch at WrestleMania.

According to the report by Meltzer, Goldberg negotiated “phenomenal single-event deal” and is willing to wrestle any time for paydays like that.

– As noted, Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Samoa Joe to take back the WWE NXT Title at Saturday’s live event in Osaka, Japan. WWE has confirmed that the full match will air on this Wednesday’s episode.

Stephanie McMahon on Ronda Rousey Working with WWE Again
Stephanie McMahon recently sat down with USA Today to discuss the possibility of Ronda Rousey working with the WWE once again.
On Rousey’s mass appeal: “Our fans love Ronda. Ronda has this cross platform appeal in terms of all forms of entertainment. We would welcome her with open arms. She is the total package.”

On Rousey’s Wrestlemania 31 appearance: “The moment was awe-inspiring. Our business works the best when there is magic and energy in the air, and Ronda’s presence brought that. With a guest appaerance like Ronda’s, to work best it has t be genuine and authentic. Pop culture is a huge strategy for WWE, our storylines are reflective of what’s happening in the world and what’s popular. In sports, it doesn’t get much more popular than Ronda.”

On Rousey fitting into the WWE: “Muhammad Ali credited pro-wrestling for where he got his trash talking skills and persona. I would like to think there is a bit of ‘Rowdy’ and wrestling history in Ronda and the way she carries herself, but she is definitely her own individual brand.”

Michael Cole Pushed WWE to Sign Nigel McGuinness
During an interview with ESPN.com, Michael Cole discussed Nigel McGuinness signing with the WWE and how he had been pushing company officials to sign him up:
“I cannot wait. I’ve been trying to get Nigel here for a long time […] and this just worked out to be the perfect venue to bring him aboard. Hde’s gonna start off as part of this tournament but he’s gonna be with WWE full time going forward. We have a lot of plans for Nigel, and I think fans are going to be excited seeing what he has coming in his career/ there’s not a better person to be able to do this.”

Mickie James Returning to WWE SmackDown

Former WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James has reportedly signed a multi-year deal with the company, according to PWInsider. She’s expected to return to the main roster in January 2017.

Mickie is expected to re-debut on the SmackDown brand. This comes after her strong performance against WWE NXT Women’s Champion Asuka at “Takeover: Toronto” last month.

Baron Corbin Wins Award, Promo for John Cena’s WWE TV Return

– We noted before that Baron Corbin and Corey Graves were representing WWE at the 2016 Revolver Magazine Music Awards last night. Corbin was nominated for Most Metal Athlete and actually won the award. WWE announced the following:

WWE Superstar Announced for Arnold Fitness Competition

Dana Brooke, under her real name Ashley Sebera, has been announced for the Fitness International competition at The 2017 Arnold Sports Festival on Friday, March 3rd in Columbus, Ohio.
Dana earned her International Federation of BodyBuilding & Fitness pro card in 2012 and won several National Physique Committee championships before signing with WWE. This isn’t her first Arnold competition as she placed 12th at the 2013 European Arnold Classic and placed 13th at the 2015 Arnold Sports Festival.
On a related note, the official Arnold Sports Twitter account noted that they do not have WWE on the schedule at this time. WWE has had a presence at The Arnold for a few years now and after Triple H appeared with WWE Hall of Famer Arnold Schwarzenegger earlier this year for a Q&A, it was reported that WWE would continue to work the festival. This year’s “WWE Experience” at The Arnold was considered to be a success.
