Nick "Magnus" Aldis Undergoes Surgery On Tuesday, Aldis Comments

Nick Aldis, who wrestled as Magnus in TNA, wrote via Twitter that he underwent surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn bicep tendon.

“I had surgery today to repair a torn bicep tendon that I injured in Mexico 10 days ago,” wrote Aldo on Twitter. “Apologies to the promotions I’ve had to cancel for. I’m aiming rehab ASAP and will keep you posted on my return to action.”

Sami Zayn made his official NXT return at the ongoing NXT U.K. Tour stop in Newcastle, England on Thursday evening to an excellent reaction from the fans in attendance, but that wasn’t the only cool thing about his return.

In addition to the above video that WWE posted on the official NXT Twitter page of Zayn’s electric ring entrance in Newcastle on Thursday night, the former NXT Champion had a surprise up his sleeve.

As seen below in a photo from the event posted by WWE’s official Instagram page, Zayn borrowed a page out of UFC Fight Night 80 headliner Rose Namajunas’ page by surprising fans with a new shaved head look at the official weigh-ins for her fight against Paige VanZant in Las Vegas, which also takes place tonight.

In his first match back since May, Zayn went one-on-one with current NXT Champion Finn Balor at the NXT live event at Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle.

As noted by Triple H during the NXT TakeOver: London conference call on Thursday morning, while Zayn will be working a match at the NXT TakeOver: London event at the SSE Arena, Wembley on Wednesday, December 16th, his match will be taped for next week’s NXT TV episode on the WWE Network, as opposed to being included on the live WWE Network special.

ECW Original Tommy Dreamer recently spoke to the folks at Busted Open Radio about his most recent WWE run. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On elevating young talent such as The Wyatt Family:

“If you look at when the Dudleys returned and they worked with the New Day, look how the New Day got elevated. This business is about that. I was blessed to have veterans do that for me and with me. That’s part of the evolution of the business.”

On this latest run with WWE and reflecting on his career:

“For me to be performing, I was very, very sentimental driving up to Boston. That was the first town I ever wrestled in outside of New York when I was coming up on the indies. Passing North Chelmsford, where I worked Big Vito’s first match in North Chelmsford High School and I’m 19 years old and Taz is next to me, and just all the times I’ve been there. That was my first Royal Rumble and then, again, to be back on that stage and that place was sold out and the crowd was electric. I thought it was a very, very strong pay-per-view for in-ring performances and again, for me just to be back there and the week before, wrestling against the Usos who I’ve known since they were kids or Roman Reigns who I met when he was a teenager because I know his brother and wrestled his brother. It’s great to still be at this age and still be able to compete and still be able to contribute to the business that I love.”

MVP On His Friendship With Batista, Vince Never Believing Batista Would Leave

Former WWE Superstar MVP recently appeared as a guest on the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast spoke about his friendship with Batista and how it has helped him throughout his career, Vince McMahon never believing Batista would leave WWE for acting and more. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On his friendship with Batista and Batista helping him get a match-finish changed:

“We had been doing a television feud. It wasn’t a pay-per-view feud, but, every week, he and I were going through something, wrestling, and he had beaten me, like, two weeks in a row on TV. And the finish that day was he was going to beat me again. And I know my role. I’m a heel! He’s the money guy. He’s a star. That’s what I’m there for. I have no problem with that. Dave had a problem with it because he said, ‘why am I beating you again? This does nothing for you. This does nothing for me. This is pointless.’ His exact words [were], ‘you’re a f–king guy we can do something with. Why am I beating you again?’. This is what Dave said. I said, ‘f–k it, Dave. I’m working in the main event against you. I’m cool. That’s fine. I’m making that main event money. I’m getting the rub.’ He goes, ‘no, f–k that. It’s bulls–t. Lets go talk to Vince [McMahon].'” MVP continued, “Dave literally took me in to Vince and said, ‘Vince, it doesn’t make sense.’ That doesn’t happen very often in the world of professional wrestling. There aren’t that many guys that think that selflessly and see the picture in that way, so that’s the kind of guy he is.”

On he, Batista and Vince McMahon coming up with a different finish to the match:

“We came up with a finish where we’d fight outside the ring, he’d be kicking my ass outside the ring, and I’d be running away from him during the count, so as I dive into the ring, I win by count out. And I kind of slid out [of] the backside of the ring and I was still scared and I’m showing, ‘oh s–t’ and [the announcer says], ‘and the winner, by count out, MVP!’ and I get my swagger back and I was like, ‘yeah, that’s right! That’s right! I won!’ And that was the finish that we came up with. Dave did that.”

On Vince never really believing that Batista would leave WWE for acting:

“With [Batista’s] movie career, I remember the day he left and it was crazy because Muriel, the security guard, she walked him out and he was telling me, he goes, ‘Vince doesn’t think I’m leaving. He thinks I’m bulls–tting him. He doesn’t think I’m serious.'” MVP added, “[Batista] literally walked away from millions of dollars a year on the chance that he’d make it in Hollywood [and McMahon was saying,] ‘he’s not going to walk away from all this money.'”

Bad Luck Fale, Rocky Romero Re-Sign With NJPW After Talking With WWE

Two guys who won’t be joining the four established New Japan Pro Wrestling stars (AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson) in jumping ship to WWE are Bad Luck Fale and Rocky Romero, as both have officially re-signed with NJPW.

According to a report from Ryan Satin of ProWrestlingSheet.com, Bad Luck Fale ultimately decided to sign a new two year deal with NJPW after engaging in talks with WWE to possibly become another defector.

Prior to Fale, Romero dealt with a similar situation, as he was reportedly in talks with WWE as well, but ended up signing a two year contract to remain with the Japanese promotion.

After signing his deal, Bad Luck Fale took to social media to blog about the negotiations he had just gone through with both promotions. He wrote the following on his official Facebook page on Sunday morning:

There has been a lot of speculation around my future. I have had offers from all corners, and a lot of people telling me what to do. But as always I’ve always blocked out outside voices and stayed true to myself. I am someone who stays true to myself. I believe in integrity, honesty and loyalty. And it’s those principles that have swayed my decision. I will stay with NJPW because they believed in me when I was nobody. That means more than anything materialistic. I look forward to the future and appreciate the opportunity that I have had and that I have been given. Bullet Club for life!!!!

Reigns In 4 On 1 Match, Ambrose/Owens On Miz TV Set For SmackDown

WWE announced an intriguing match and what will likely be an entertaining segment for this week’s Royal Rumble “go-home” edition of SmackDown.

In a one-on-four match designed to soften up the WWE World Heavyweight Champion as he heads into this Sunday’s Royal Rumble match with his title on the line as the very first entrant, Roman Reigns will take on Sheamus, King Barrett, Rusev and WWE United States Champion Alberto Del Rio.

Also scheduled for this week’s SmackDown is a Miz TV segment, with The Miz being joined by WWE Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose and former I-C and NXT Champion Kevin Owens.

WWE SmackDown will be taped on Tuesday night from Wright State University’s Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio. The show will air on Thursday night on WWE’s new cable home for the weekly program, the USA Network.

WWE NXT video highlights: TakeOver WarGames fallout

Contenders for both of NXT’s top championships began to emerge on last night’s TakeOver: WarGames fallout edition of NXT.

After pinning NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai in Sunday’s women’s WarGames match, Raquel Gonzalez was victorious again in last night’s main event. She defeated Ember Moon but was confronted by Rhea Ripley at the end of the show. Toni Storm also brawled with Shirai last night and later went to attack Moon before Ripley appeared and confronted Gonzalez.

It’s been confirmed that Finn Balor will defend his NXT Championship at New Year’s Evil on Wednesday, January 6, but how his challenger will be decided hasn’t been announced. Pete Dunne, Kyle O’Reilly, and Damian Priest all interrupted Balor last night and wanted the next shot at his title. Scarlett also appeared and confronted Balor on the stage. After being insulted by Priest, Karrion Kross returned later in the show and attacked Priest.

WWE taped this week’s SmackDown on Tuesday from Tampa, Florida.

– The New Day are out to start the show. The Miz joined them and they all talked trash about The Rock until the Usos interrupted, setting up a match.

– The Usos, Dolph Ziggler and Titus O’Neil defeated New Day and The Miz.

– Kalisto retained the WWE United States Title over Neville.

– Up next is Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel with his guests, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose. The Wyatt Family interrupted, setting up the 6-man main event.

– Divas Champion Charlotte defeated Natalya in a non-title match. Charlotte beat down Natalya after until Becky Lynch made the save.

– The Social Outcasts called out AJ Styles, since Styles eliminated Curtis Axel in the Rumble. AJ Styles defeated Curtis Axel with the Styles Clash (Photo).

– Sasha Banks tells Tamina Snuka and Naomi that she is going solo.

– A segment aired with Goldust continuing to recruit R-Truth as his new tag team partner.

– Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Chris Jericho defeated Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan by DQ when Braun Strowman interfered. The Wyatts beat on the babyfaces until Big Show came down and made the save. They wore Big Show down and SmackDown ended with the Wyatt Family standing tall.

Brock Lesnar, Styles-Jericho Rematch Announced For Next Week's SmackDown

WWE announced at the SmackDown taping on Tuesday night in Memphis, Tennessee that Brock Lesnar will be appearing on next week’s edition of SmackDown.

Lesnar was already scheduled to appear at the February 16th and March 22nd SmackDown tapings in Ontario, California and Boston, Massachusetts respectively, but was just added to the February 9th taping this week.

Also announced for next week’s SmackDown taping is a rematch from this week’s show between AJ Styles and Chris Jericho.

Next week’s SmackDown will be taped on Tuesday, February 9th at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon. The show will air in the normal Thursday time slot on the USA Network on February 11th.
