Crystal Palace to ask Lyon for €5m for Mamadou Sakho

France Football report that Premier League side Crystal Palace have fixed their asking price for 30-year-old French central defender Mamadou Sakho at €5m.

Ligue 1 side Lyon have in recent days advanced their conversations with the ex-PSG man over a possible salary agreement, but it is not yet clear whether or not the player is their number one priority at centre-back and thus whether they will actually attempt to close the deal.

The outlet claims that OL and Sakho are very close to an agreement over wages, and the contours have been drawn out over a possible 3-year contract. Sakho is willing to see his salary drop considerably to make the move and in return Lyon will give him a considerable signing bonus.

At the moment, the London club are waiting to be formally approached by Lyon – Palace have not received any offer for Sakho at the time of writing.

Palace are keen to offload the defender, and are willing to sell for €5m, for a player who is costing them €6m gross a year in wages.

Sakho has played just 8 matches this season for Palace, with his last appearance coming against Norwich on January 1st.

With Schneiderlin, Les Aiglons continue a swathe of early summer deals, including the signing of 22-year-old central defender Robson Bambu from Athletico Paranaense and 19-year-old Austrian defensive talent Flavius Daniliuc from Bayern Munich.

Schneiderlin is currently recovering from a knee injury that he sustained in February.

Boca Juniors goalkeeper Agustin Rossi’s agent confirms Montpellier offer

Speaking to Olé, 24-year-old Argentinian goalkeeper Agustin Rossi’s agent confirmed an offer from Ligue 1 club Montpellier for the player’s services, who is currently contracted to Boca Juniors.

“Montpellier is a nice opportunity for the continuity of Agustín’s career. The offer made is a loan with an obligation to buy… €6m, similar to what is being offered by Udinese. For the moment, it does not meet the demands of Boca but it is a way of opening negotiations. Now, we are waiting for a response from Boca in order to advance. This loan is the equivalent to a sale because the option to buy is obligatory. The payment would be made in two or three instalments.”

Under contract with Boca until 2023, Rossi has been relegated to second position in the goalkeeping hierarchy at his club and he is seeking a departure.

He normally plays on the left side of the attack, having spent the 2019/20 campaign on loan at Boavista, making 28 league appearances, scoring four goals and providing 1 assist.

This Friday, Brest Sporting Director Grégory Lorenzi was still in negotiations to close a deal for the Portuguese youth international, who arrived in Brest this afternoon.

At the same time, manager Olivier Dall’Oglio was asked about the player during a friendly match against Lorient:

“We are getting there. He is an interesting player, versatile, who can play on both sides and even centrally. He is a grafter, works to break the lines and dribbles nicely. He has a profile that we don’t have at the moment.”

Nasser Al Khelaifi on Neymar & Kylian Mbappé: “They will both stay, they will never leave.”

Speaking to RMC Sport following PSG’s 2-1 last gasp victory over Atalanta, the French club’s president spoke about the match and the futures of Kylian Mbappé & Neymar.

“This is a very special day, it is magnificent. We needed that to change the mentality. The players gave 200%, I am very proud. I thank everyone, in this not so easy period. Everyone was saying that PSG was not ready for the Champions’ League, but we showed a great mentality, with great players. Our aim is far along but we are not thinking about the final today, only the semi-final. It is very important to change the mentality. You also have the media, everyone doubts PSG. The Champions’ League, we needed this victory to go further.”

On the future of Kylian Mbappé and Neymar:

Neymar and Kylian (Mbappé) are amongst the best players in the world. Neymar was the man of the match, he did a great match. We found Neymar, who changes a lot of things in a team. I felt something special. They will both stay, neither of them will ever leave!

Ander Herrera on Marquinhos as PSG’s captain in waiting: “He is a natural leader.”

Speaking to reporters in Monday’s pre-match press conference ahead of their Champions’ League semi-final against RB Leipzig, PSG midfielder Ander Herrera discussed Marquinhos’ qualities, with the Brazilian set to be made club captain for the 2020/21 campaign.

“For me the captain is not merely the man who wears the armband. Marquinhos is a natural leader. He does not speak much but at training and on the pitch, he does. Neymar on the pitch, he is a leader. Keylor Navas has won a lot in his career and is trying to form a squad. Thiago Silva is a leader and a fantastic captain but we also have leaders who lead through their actions. A single leader is not enough.”

Javier Pastore on Neymar: “He’s the only player who can carry a team on his own.”

Speaking in an interview with L’Équipe, former PSG attacking midfielder Javier Pastore discussed the power of Neymar.

“He is something else… At the moment, he is the only player who can carry a team on his own. When the team is struggling, that doesn’t stop him from getting to it, dribbling past 5 players and creating a chance. Would I have liked to play with the team being at 100%? Of course, that would have been incredible! I did rub shoulders with that, playing nearly 40 matches (37), even though my season was not exactly exceptional.”
