Leonardo DiCaprio’s Touching Tribute to “Role Model” Alan Thicke

If you weren’t already hopelessly in love with Leonardo DiCaprio, here’s your 487th reason you should be.

Upon hearing of Alan Thicke’s death on Tuesday, DiCaprio took to Facebook on Wednesday to pay tribute to his Growing Pains castmate.

“Alan was a devoted father, husband, friend and role model. He knew how to harness the power of the entertainment industry to be a positive influence in so many lives—including mine,” he wrote. “I will be forever grateful for the opportunity I had to work with Alan early in my career. He had tremendous class, a huge heart, and he taught me and so many others the valuable lessons about humility and gratitude. I’ve seen him a number of times over the years and when Alan Thicke walked in the room, quite frankly, no one was cooler. I miss him already—my thoughts and prayers are with the entire Thicke family during this difficult time,” he concluded.

DiCaprio played Luke Brower on the beloved sitcom, a homeless teen taken in by the Seaver family. A few more of the Seaver family members paid tribute to the late Growing Pains actor, including Kirk Cameron (Mike Seaver) who posted a photo from the show on Instagram, Joanna Kerns (Maggie Seaver), who tweeted out a few messages dedicated to Thicke, and Ashley Johnson (Chrissy Seaver), who also tweeted (and later deleted) a photo of her and the actor together on set.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Johnson’s now-deleted post featured a throwback photo of her and Thicke, with a quote from Washington Irving reading, “There is a sacredness in tears…They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition, and of unspeakable love.”
