Premier League side Newcastle United are in the process of making a play for 21-year-old St Étienne winger Jonathan Bamba, according to Foot Mercato.
NUFC are prepared to submit a formal offer for Bamba, but the situation has been blocked in recent days as Les Verts worked on securing Oscar Garcia as their new manager.
Serie A side Atalanta have also registered an interest in the former Angers loanee.
