Clifford talks at length about WWE’s strategy regarding future Pay-Per-View events, including renaming September’s Unforgiven event to Breaking Point. “We’ve been doing these PPVs for a few years and we felt that some of the PPVs were a little flat in terms of what we wanted the titles to project, so we looked to see which ones we can rename,” he said. — J.D. Costello, President & CEO of the National Wrestling Alliance’s Charlotte territory has announced they are shutting down effective July 3 after the company suffered “tremendous financial loss” during the second quarter of this year. “The tremendous financial loss from the abrupt closing of NWA Coliseum on April 25 cannot be recouped this year,” Costello said in a press release. “And the enormous physical costs of re-building new sets, along with upfitting a new facility, are too much to invest in these challenging economic times.” The territory launched back in January.
— SuperLucha.net is reporting former WWE and ECW star Super Crazy will be wrestling for at a TNA Wrestling show in Laredo, Texas next month. According to TNA’s website, the event takes place on Saturday, August 22 from the Laredo Entertainment Center. Tickets go on sale July 17th.
