The co-main event for next Saturday’s UFC 260 has been postponed due to COVID-19.
Announced during UFC’s Saturday night show on ESPN, featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski was pulled from his fight with top challenger Brian Ortega due to COVID-19 protocols. One of his teammates (Brad Riddell) was also pulled from his Saturday’s co-main event for the same reason, but it’s unknown if the two are related.

It’s unknown when they will reschedule the fight for. If they want to keep the fight on pay-per-view and do it sooner than later, April’s UFC 261 already has three title fights on the card so May’s UFC 261 (Michael Chandler vs. Charles Oliveira for the vacant lightweight title) is the logical choice as a co-main event.
If they want to put the title fight on ESPN/ESPN+ (a rarity these days), May 1st would be the earliest option for a show that doesn’t have a solid main event.
It was to be the second defense for Volkanovski and his first appearance since he won a tight close decision against former champion Max Holloway in a July 2020 defense. Ortega is coming off a dominant October decision victory over “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung that earned him a second shot at the belt.
UFC 260 will be headlined by a rematch between heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic vs. Francis Ngannou.
