AJ Styles vs. John Cena vs. Dean Ambrose set for WWE No Mercy

After defeating Dean Ambrose for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Backlash, AJ Styles will defend the title for the first time at SmackDown’s upcoming No Mercy pay-per-view.

But it won’t be against just one challenger. It was announced during the opening segment of Tuesday night’s edition of SmackDown that Styles will face both John Cena and Dean Ambrose in a triple threat match for the title at No Mercy.

Styles opened the show with a promo gloating about winning the title at Backlash. Styles continued mocking John Cena, which led to Cena interrupting Styles and making his first appearance on television since SummerSlam.

Cena told Styles that he had something that belonged to him. Styles thought he meant the armband that he took after Cena exited the ring at SummerSlam, but Cena was referring to the title. Cena mentioned tying Ric Flair’s World Championship record by beating Styles, but Dean Ambrose came out and took exception to Cena getting the next shot after Styles had to low blow him to get the win at Backlash. Shane McMahon then came out and made the triple threat match for No Mercy.

No Mercy is scheduled for October 9th in Sacramento, CA.
