The Smackdown Tag Team Championships have been vacated.
Earlier tonight on Smackdown Live, Jeff Hardy confirmed that he has sustained a serious injury that will require surgery, taking him out of action “for a very long time”. As such the legendary duo were forced to vacate the world tag team titles that they had just won three weeks prior, ending their short reign at only 21 days.
The “Charismatic Enigma” reportedly re-injured his right knee during a WWE Live event two weekends ago, and has been out of action since. WWE however is playing up the injury as a result of a series attacks by the blue brand’s new resident monster, Lars Sullivan.
After vacating the titles, The Hardy Boyz were attacked by Sullivan who cleared the ring of Matt Hardy, before turning his attention to his injured brother, who struggled to leave the ring as he was using a crutch. Former U.S. Champion R-Truth attempted to make the save, even using a steel chair, but the “Freak” laid waste to all of them.
