Drew McIntyre won his first Royal Rumble tonight in Houston, Texas.
The final four of the men’s Royal Rumble match included McIntyre, Roman Reigns, Randy Orton and a returning Edge. Edge eliminated Orton, then went after Reigns on the apron. Reigns got the better of the exchange and eliminated Edge.
It then boiled down to Roman Reigns and McIntyre. Reigns went for a Superman punch but McIntyre avoided and connected with the Claymore kick, then eliminated him to win the Royal Rumble.
With the win, McIntyre will be able to challenge any world champion to a match at WrestleMania.
McIntyre had entered the match at number 16 and squared off against WWE champion Brock Lesnar. Ricochet, who was also in the match, low blowed Lesnar as revenge from last Monday. That gave McIntyre the opportunity to Claymore kick Lesnar out of the ring, finally eliminating him after Lesnar had been dominant for the first half of the match.
WrestleMania 36 will take place Sunday, April 5 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
