IN A YEAR of both a Winter Olympics and a Fifa World Cup, it’s no surprise that there were some big budget ads featuring some of the world’s biggest — and most marketable –athletes.
Here are the ones which stuck with us long after the ad break was finished.
Beats by Dre – The Game Before The Game
Beats made a major statement in the run up to the World Cup with this five-minute mini-movie featuring Neymar, Cesc Fabregas and more as they prepared for the biggest tournament in world football.

Guinness – Barnes Twins, Biathletes
American biathletes Tracy and Lanny Barnes aren’t household names but their story still made for one of the most moving ads of the year ahead of the Sochi Olympics. This was made even better by the fact that Guinness, as a “non-official sponsor,” reportedly had to pull the ad due to a blackout.
