News on GFW Meetings This Week – Creative, Karen Jarrett, More

It was reported not too long ago that Global Force Wrestling is in major financial trouble at the moment. A report from Sport Illustrated alleged that GFW’s parent company Anthem was looking to sell the company and remove themselves from pro wrestling altogether. PWInsider reports that all meetings for GFW this week never mentioned any of the reports, instead opting to discuss what the plans for the future will be. They also report that they have not heard anything from WWE with regards to purchasing their tape library if they were to shut down. It is possible that GFW is trying to keep this situation as discreet as possible if it is indeed true.
PWInsider also reported that the creative team in the company has also been changed around a bit from its previous incarnation. The new creative team will apparently consist of John Gaburick, Scott D’Amore, and Sonjay Dutt, none of the three are positioned as the head of creative. Dutch Mantell, Abyss, and Jeremy Borash are also going to be helping out creatively by offering advice and input backstage. Jeff Jarrett was the Chief Creative Officer for the company before it was announced that he is taking a leave of absence from the company. It is unknown at the moment if Jarrett will ever return to the company at all, let alone in the same role that he was in previously.
Finally, Dave Meltzer reported a while back that GFW was planning on moving their headquarters from Nashville, Tennessee to Toronto. PWInsider now claims that Ed Nordholm was asked about this rumor during the meetings this week, and he outright denied it. As for the status of Jeff Jarrett’s wife, Karen, PWInsider apologized for insinuating that she was done with the promotion. Instead, it appears as though the company has not decided what they will be doing with her, though it is probably safe to assume that she will not remain employed by the company while they have such a strained relationship with her husband.
