Ronda Rousey has not been seen on WWE television ever since she debuted at the Royal Rumble event last month. That will be changing very soon given that she will be appearing at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view soon. According to a new article from NoDQ.com, WWE noticed that ticket sales for the event were not selling quite as well as they would have liked. This probably explains why the company decided to add her to the upcoming pay-per-view later on this month. The show will be taking place in Las Vegas, which is where Rousey competed in numerous MMA fights during her time with UFC. It will be interesting to see what Rousey does next now that she is in WWE.
What will Rousey be doing in WWE now exactly? It had been rumored that she would team up with The Rock to face Triple H and Stephanie McMahon at WrestleMania, but that seems unlikely given The Rock’s current schedule. According to Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso, two matches still planned for WrestleMania as of now include Nia Jax vs. Alexa Bliss for the Raw Women’s Championship and Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair for the Smackdown Women’s Championship. As a result, the rumored mixed tag team match is still being planned for Rousey, but the report mentions that names such as Kurt Angle, Shane McMahon, and Seth Rollins are currently being considered to replace The Rock if he cannot compete in the match.
For months now, the belief has been that Roman Reigns will challenge Brock Lesnar before winning the Universal Championship from him at WrestleMania. Another rumored top match for the show has been John Cena vs. The Undertaker. Given that this could be “The Phenom’s” last match, some have wondered if that means that his match against Cena will be closing out the event this year. Cageside Seats has reported that betting odds for the main event match currently suggest that the Reigns vs. Lesnar match will be the match to main event WrestleMania this year, even if the planned John Cena vs. Undertaker match does take place at the show this April.
