Rennes make an offer for Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche

Stade Rennais have made a €6m offer to AS Monaco for Maghnes Akliouche, according to a report from L’Équipe. The right-winger would join Rennes’ new arrival Karl Toko Ekambi if the Principality club are willing to let him go.

The 20-year-old made his debut in Ligue 1 in the 2021/22 season, but he only managed to appear for a total of 47 minutes across the entire campaign as he was used as a substitute. He has gained more playing time in the league across the current season, making several appearances in the starting 11. That said, he has not yet played a full 90 minutes for Les Monégasques.

Could grasses be greener in Brittany? Rennes (5th) are level on points with Monaco, who sit fourth as a result of goals-scored. Both teams have the same record (11W, 4D, 4L) and the same goal difference. But with a wealth of attacking options at Monaco, Akliouche’s chances of playing more may be greater at Roazhon Park. The French youth international is reportedly unwilling to extend his contract, which currently has him on the Mediterranean coast until 2024.
