Seth Rollins is returning to WWE television on the first SmackDown of 2021.
WWE has announced that Rollins will make his return on next Friday’s New Year’s Day episode of SmackDown. It will be the first time Rollins has appeared since November’s Survivor Series pay-per-view.
Rollins (real name Colby Lopez) and Becky Lynch (Rebecca Quin) announced on December 7 that Lynch had given birth to a baby girl named Roux. This is the couple’s first child.
In his last appearance on WWE programming before Lynch gave birth, Rollins took part in the Team Raw vs. Team SmackDown Survivor Series elimination match last month. Rollins was the first person to be eliminated in the match, sacrificing himself and saying it was for the greater good. Sheamus pinned Rollins after hitting a Brogue Kick.
Rollins also lost matches to Rey Mysterio and Murphy on SmackDown prior to Survivor Series.
New Intercontinental Champion Big E vs. Baron Corbin has also been announced for next Friday’s SmackDown. That appears to be a non-title match. Big E won the Intercontinental title on tonight’s SmackDown, defeating Sami Zayn in a lumberjack match. Corbin was one of the lumberjacks for the match.
