Pierre-Yves Cousteau appointed as a special adviser on fisheries and protected marine areas

Twelve years ago, the European Commission found itself in deep water, because some departments had been using ‘submarines’ – staff who were not employed on the official payroll. So Entre Nous was delighted to see that Commission President José Manuel Barroso had announced last week  that ocean explorer Pierre-Yves Cousteau had been appointed as a special adviser on fisheries and protected marine areas. He may not be paid anything, but he will know more about the bottom of the ocean than previous Commission submarines.
