Recently WWE announced the signings of top independent stars Ricochet, War Machine and Candice LeRae, who have all reported for duty at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando.
Company announcer and popular podcast host Peter Rosenberg got a bit of heat from angry wrestling fans after sending out a few Tweets making it clear he wasn’t familiar with former ROH and NJPW tag team War Machine. He even made a video to wrestling fans “without a life” which started with him reasonably explaining that he’s not a diehard follower of non-WWE products, and quickly devolved into screaming and ranting.
Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were recently on the Talk is Jericho podcast, where KO was asked about his semi-recent angle with Vince McMahon where he split the WWE CEO open with a nasty headbutt. The spot was compared to a scary moment in NJPW last year where Katsuyori Shibata nearly lost his life, but Owens clarified that he wasn’t aware of the spot before planning it out for Smackdown Live.
Rosenberg then posted a video on Twitter of the Owens and Jericho interview, sarcastically stating, “OH NO!!!!! KO doesn’t have time for NJPW!! he must not love Wrestling!!” The former WWE Universal Champion apparently wasn’t happy with that, making it clear that while it’s not his job as a wrestler to know what’s going on in Japan, it’s certainly Rosenberg’s role as an announcer to know what’s going on in his own workplace.
Owens responded, “If my role for a certain company was to comment on things happening within said company and they had just hired some really talented wrestlers, I’d probably find a few minutes to learn who they are and where they come from before talking about them, though.”
